It’s been some time since I last wrote anything, but you see, I have been a very busy bee! I now spend 8.30am-5.00pm working in a solicitors office! Terribly exciting!
So yes, I have been very busy. But I’d just like to take a moment to appreciate what an opportunity this is for me. I’m currently a lil office junior, but I have the chance to progress through the office with time, the chance to eventually become a legal secretary, and even more! And if, perhaps, the legal market isn’t quite for me, it’s experience in an office, which I can use to find other jobs. I’m very excited.
But I have found that, as I am used to sleeping in till midday (typical teen, I know), that the early starts are difficult for me. So I have started to eat and drink a little better, in an attempt to feel better. Before I got this job, I was drinking Diet Cola or Pepsi pretty much constantly. I would rarely drink anything else. Now I’ve made a switch, drinking flavoured waters, and fruit drinks. I’ve found a lovely Tropical Juice drink from Morrisons which is lovely, pineapples and mangoes etc. Yum!
And even just that has made me feel a little better. But I’ve also changed my eating habits. I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t eat as healthy as I should have before I started work. And I’ll freely admit now, that I don’t eat as well as I could. But I eat much better now. Greek style lemon yoghurts and Belvita biscuits at lunch, sometimes a packet of crisps. Maybe a 107 calorie kit kat? Not that I pay any attention to calories. I don’t do numbers.
The point is, I’m eating better and feeling better. Cherries are my new favourite food! I discovered the strange lil things at the supermarket. Now I do like fruits, don’t get me wrong. But I’d never tried cherries before. But boy do I love them!
And I’ve found I can tie the stalks into knots with my tongue. Although not at work.
I’m not a slim girl, I probably never will be. My family think I’ve lost some weight recently, but I think they are just being kind. I don’t think I’ve done quite enough to merit weight loss! But I feel healthier, and I feel happier. I recommend slipping a bit of fruit into anyone’s diet! Greek style yoghurts and low fat and not at all boring, they are perfect for lunch time snacks! And if, like me, you are dependant upon your daily fix of Cola, then have a glass when you get home from work as a reward.
I can already feel the benefits of eating more fruit and pastas and rice dishes, and I’ve only been doing it a week! So, perhaps, if you’re feeling a little run down in this heat, or with work, this could help. Look after yourselves! I’ll write another piece soon, actually on something, not just about myself. Adios amigos!
